Research

Our research group focuses on research related to Integrated Water Resources Management (IWRM); our goal is to develop new techniques and design policies to improve water management. We analyze the current regulations (policies), infrastructure and environment of basins to recommend actions for improving the water supply of present and future societal water demands while maintaining the range of hydrologic variation necessary to preserve the ecological and environmental integrity of the basin.

Our research focuses on:

  • System’s Re-Operation - How to get the most out the water resources system
  • Environmental Flows - Estimation of the natural flow regimes or pre-altered flow regime to determine hydrologic and environmental characteristics of healthy riparian and aquatic ecosystems.
  • Application Efficiency - Analyzing how well irrigation system performs when they are operated to deliver a specific amount of water, for different crop and hydrologic regions for the State of California
  • Indicators for Water Resources Systems – Summarizing data for the decision making process
